How do online Quran classes for kids work?

Online Quran classes for kids are live video lessons with one teacher and one child. The teacher shares the page on screen, listens to every word and corrects gently. Lessons are short and end with a small task to practise for five minutes a day.

Quran lessons by age

Quran lessons for children change with age. Here is what lessons look like for a son or daughter at each stage.

Ages 4–6: first letters

Lessons of 20–30 minutes with songs, colours and lots of praise. Children learn the Arabic letters through Noorani Qaida and copy short surahs like Al-Fatiha and Al-Ikhlas by listening.

Ages 7–9: reading and short surahs

Children finish the Qaida and start reading from the mushaf. Many begin memorising Juz ‘Amma, a few lines at a time, with easy Tajweed rules taught by example.

Ages 10–12: fluency, Tajweed and Hifz

Longer lessons and clear weekly goals. Children read the whole Quran with Tajweed, and keen students follow a structured Hifz plan.

Teens 13–16: ownership and meaning

Teens set their own targets with the teacher. Many add Tafseer or Quranic Arabic to understand what they recite, and some aim for a full khatm or Hifz.

What will my child learn?

Your child follows a step-by-step curriculum. Each step builds on the one before, and the teacher moves on only when your child is ready.

  1. 1.Noorani Qaida — letters, vowels and joining
  2. 2.Quran Reading — reading the mushaf fluently
  3. 3.Tajweed — the rules of correct recitation
  4. 4.Hifz — memorising Juz ‘Amma, then more
  5. 5.Islamic studies — duas, wudu, salah and stories of the prophets, added to lessons on request

Are online Quran classes safe for my child?

Online Quran classes are safe when parents stay in control. Lessons are scheduled, one-to-one and on video, and you can join any lesson. We suggest a few simple rules at home:

  • Learn in a shared room, such as the living room, not a bedroom
  • Use a parent’s account and device settings
  • Sit in on the first lessons and drop in any time after
  • Tell us straight away if anything feels wrong

Female Quran teachers for children

Many parents choose a female Quran teacher for young children and for daughters. You pick female, male or no preference when you book, and you can ask to change at any time. See learning with a female teacher.

Progress reports for parents

Each month the teacher sends a short report: what your child covered, what went well and what to practise. You can message the teacher with questions, and sit in on any lesson.

Kids’ Quran classes: FAQs

What age can my child start online Quran classes?

Most children are ready at about 4 or 5, when they can sit for a short lesson and copy sounds. We keep lessons for this age to 20–30 minutes.

Are online Quran classes safe for children?

Every class is a scheduled one-to-one video lesson that parents can join at any time. We recommend children learn in a shared room of the house. Our safety checklist explains what to look for.

Can my daughter learn with a female teacher?

Yes. Choose a female teacher when you book. Many families choose a female teacher for all young children.

How will I know my child is making progress?

The teacher sends a short monthly progress report, and you can sit in on any lesson. You will also hear the difference when your child reads to you.

My son loses focus quickly. Will online lessons work?

Usually yes, because one-to-one lessons are short and the teacher has his full attention. Teachers change activities often and use praise to keep children engaged.

How many lessons a week does a child need?

Two or three 30-minute lessons a week work well for most children, plus five minutes of practice a day. Hifz students usually need four or five.

Can siblings share a teacher?

Yes. Siblings can have back-to-back lessons with the same teacher, and families can ask about a family discount.
